A Final Farewell

Waikiki, our last remaining puppy from Eve's litter, went to her new home today in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Her new name is Snowflake! We are thrilled that she will be so well loved and cared for by her new family. We now feel a bit of the empty nest syndrome with all of the puppies gone. We will miss all of our puppies, but we look forward to next year when we will have more. We anticipate having 2 litters next year: one again with Eve, and one with Eve's daughter, Latte. White Boxer Puppy Available in South Carolina

My main computer is being repaired--sorry for the lack of updates!  Luau left for her new home in North Carolina on Sunday morning. They are a wonderful family, and she now has 2 other boxers to play with at home. Now that Waikiki is all by herself, she is getting some extra special attention from both us and our other dogs. She is lonely, but she loves playing with mom Eve and half-sister, Latte.

If you are interested in Waikiki, please contact us! She is now 13 weeks old and reminds us of her mom, Eve, who is very sweet, but a little timid when you first meet her. I'm sure she will be the perfect (big) lapdog!

Snoopy, Come Home!

In second grade, my teacher had to call home because she showed the movie "Snoopy Come Home!" during school, and I cried! Friday, Aloha, now known as Snoopy, left for her her new family in Denver, and we all got a little teary with her departure. Because of her cleft lip, I had to bottle feed her every couple hours throughout the day and night, so she and I had a very special friendship. We are so pleased that she has a wonderful family who will love her to death! Their reaction when they saw her for the first time: "She's amazing! We love her!!!"

South Carolina Boxer Puppies are 11 Weeks Old

The puppies are now 11 weeks old and getting a bit too heavy to hold up for photos. Aloha is leaving today for her new home. Luau has a placement pending to a family in North Carolina. Smothered with Kisses

We took the puppies to the vet today for their second round of shots and health check-ups. Aloha is cleared for her flight this week to her new family in Colorado. While we waited, we got lots of love and kisses from Luau and Waikiki. They are both lovers and both available to go to loving homes!

A New Home for Aloha

Aloha is going to a new home in Colorado next week! They are thinking about naming her Snoopy! How cute!! She is quite the sweetie, and her little lip certainly gives her some character. Because of her cleft lip, she did not latch on very well to get her milk, so for the first 3-4 weeks, she was bottle fed many times a day. So she and I spent a lot of time together. I always develop a special affection to the "underdogs" (no pun intended), and to those who have special needs. She certainly deserves a wonderful family.

Here are our little snowflakes this week. They are happy, healthy, and enjoying the outside a lot this week. All are available to go to loving homes!

It is suggested that this little girl with a cleft lip (cosmetic only) have surgery to correct it about 4-6 months of age. She is otherwise a healthy and happy little female. She has a brindle patch on her right eye.

Eve gets another award for Mom of the Year! She never seems to tire of being with her puppies. She still always wants to check on their welfare to make sure they are okay. Her interaction at this stage of their lives is essential in their development, such as how to play.

We are grateful our kids love dogs as much as they do. They play an integral part of raising these puppies so they are really well-socialized with kids by the time they leave our family.

Are White Boxer Puppies Rare?

Not at all. There are a variety of misconceptions about the white boxer:

1. White Boxers are rare. False. About 25% of all boxers born are white, or white with patches. It is not uncommon to have at least one white puppy in a litter.
2. White Boxers are deaf. False. It is estimated that only approximately 13% are born deaf. Deafness is caused by a lack of pigmentation of the hair cells in the ear. Deaf puppies can bewell-trained, using a variety of different methods, such as hand signals and sign language. They do very well in agility training courses and competitions, as they are not distracted by the noise during competition.
3. White Boxers are albinos. False. Albinism is a complete lack of pigment, including in the eyes.

White boxers are loved as much by their litter mates and mom as the other puppies. All reputable breeders will place them in loving homes, just as with the other fawn and brindle puppies, and usually do it at a slightly reduced price. However, reputable breeders will never breed white boxers because of the increased risk of deafness.

Bodie was from Lady's second litter and is almost 4 years old. He lives with our good friends in Minnesota. 

Pearl just turned a year, and is from Eve's first litter last year.  She lives with her family in California.

Now that the rest of the family left with their new families over the weekend, Aloha, Waikiki, and Lei  have their house all to themselves. We often hear them having a great time running around, barking at each other, and playing with their toys. At 9 weeks old, they are really getting big!

Aloha was born with a cleft lip. while some breeders may have chosen to put her down at birth, because she wasn't quite normal, we didn't have the heart. Our vet recommends repairing the lip when she is about 4-6 months old. Because of this, she has a reduced price. She is quite the fun little girl with lots of spunk. She is the smallest of these three females.

Luau is a very sweet and gentle girl. Her brindle ears are very unique.  She is a medium sized puppy.

Waikiki
Waikiki is very playful and is the largest of the girls. She is all white, like the white, sandy beaches of Waikiki!

Goodbye Kilauea, Lei, Diamond Head, and Kailua

We had a busy week around here, sending off our little ones to their new homes. Even though we love and will miss these puppies, it's a greater joy for us to place these puppies in wonderful families' homes, and know they will be smothered with love.

Kilauea (Cooper) left Friday to go to his new family in Los Angeles

He got delayed and stayed overnight in Chicago, but made it safely to L.A. Saturday morning.
United Airlines is the only airlines that will fly boxers, and they have a very good department which specializes in pet travel, and they have excellent service. 

Lei (now known as Lily) and Diamond Head (Negev) left Saturday morning with their new Atlanta , Georgia family.

Kailua left with her new family Sunday morning and will be at home in Birmingham, Alabama

Breeder Recommendations

Many people wonder what things we really like to use with our boxers. Below is a picture to show you a few of our favorites.

From left to right, clockwise:

1. Dog harness: gives you better control for walking your dogs, without risk of damage to their throats

2. hydrating spray: we use this after we bathe them, available in a variety of brands and scents

3. Nutro Crunchy dog treats. Recommended by one of our puppy owners, the dogs love these blueberry treats! If you have a hard time training your puppy to go into the crate, this is a great reward when he goes in!

4. Dog Biscuits: We recently tried these dog biscuits from Costco, and the dogs love them. Good for a snack in between meals.

5. Shedding blade: although boxers don't shed a lot, this is a helpful tool after bathing, as it gets out the extra dead hair. Be gentle when using it.

6. Dremmel: You might have this on your tool box, but this is a great tool for trimming the dog's nails. It really helps prevent cutting the nail too short, and causing bleeding an possible infection. Press down on the tips of the nails first, just to the very tip of the quick in the nail. Then go around in a circle around the nail. (We can show you in person when you come to pick up your puppy!)

7. Washing hand mitt: Available in your local pet store, this really helps you scrub the dogs and get the dead hair out.

8. Grooming brush: Use after bathing and after using the shedding blade.

9. Not shown: Dried Liver treats: Available at your local pet store, these are found in the dog treat section. They usually come in a can or zippered bag. We use them for very special training times, like when we want to train them to sit, stay, lie down, come, etc. Your dog will do ANYTHING for you when you have these in your pocket. 

10. Also not shown: Benadryl. Yes, the human kind. Especially in the summer, the dogs can get bee stings. If you suddenly see bumps all over the dogs back that resemble hives, or the dogs eyes are shut, pop one to two pills in the dog's mouth. Sometimes, but not all times, you can avoid a trip to the vet with this. But if it is really bad and you don't notice a change after 30 minutes, they need to be seen and have an extra shot from the vet. But always try this first.

Saying Goodbye

Kahuna, now known as Koda Everest Blues, was the first puppy from the litter to leave this afternoon. He is staying here in the Charleston area with a great family who has a nine year old boxer, and is sure to have a wonderful life and make that family very happy! Before leaving, the puppies get a little spa treatment with full scrub, manicure and pedicure, and face shave.

In case you are wondering, we (especially our 4 kids) get a little sad once they leave our family. It's an intense 2 months for us, providing constant care, nurture, and love (and clean-up!). Our objective is to breed according to the AKC boxer breed standard, giving them the best possible upbringing and ensuring that they go to the best homes. Why? They are our little ones first, and we care about each one of them, as if we were going to keep them ourselves. That's why we are so picky about choosing families to love and care for them. We want to make sure that these puppies are going to be loved as much as we love them--or more. We love for our boxer families to keep in touch with us throughout the years with updates and photos.

Boxer Puppies are 8 Weeks Old and Going Home!

These past eight weeks have gone so fast. It's hard to believe that they were once small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, and now they are bouncy, bubbly puppies around 10 pounds.  Here they are, now 8 weeks old and ready to go to their new homes.
